We could all use better snacks! I know I could. That’s why I’m thrilled when I find a healthy option that involves oatmeal and even chocolate. Healthy cookies are a great way to fill up and feel good at the same time.
With a newborn keeping me busy, I’m really trying to make precious moments count with my toddler. One of the ways so do this is by making cookies with Brandon. Making cookies with your first-born is a great way to ease that mom guilt that we all feel. I felt it BIG time for the first few months of my second son. Making a healthy snack while having some quality bonding time is the perfect fix to Mom guilt.
I got the recipe from my Mops newsletter. Before the recipe, make sure to join moms groups in your area. They are a definite life-saver! Moms stressing over the same things. Moms having your back when you feel like you’re going crazy. Moms bringing meals to new moms. Moms just living and doing life together. I could not love Moms groups enough! That’s why… I’m currently in 3!
Anyway, back to the recipe…
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 cup of oats
Other ingredients I add:
- 1 t. Honey
- 1 Tb. Flax seed
- 1 t. Cinnamon
- 1/3 cup raisins
- 1/6 cup chocolate chips or butterscotch chips
- A pinch of salt
After mixing ingredients together, place spoonfuls of dough a couple of inches apart on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
Then, watch, let them cool, and eat!
